Where Giants Fall — v0.75: New Horizons, Greater Power

Watch the October gameplay showcase, then explore level-20 weapons, 18 heroes, four new landscapes, reworked bosses and the new Cairn.

Weapons now reach level 20. Eighteen heroes take the field. New landscapes, towering colossi and reworked boss fights give you more to discover along the Journey.

The October gameplay showcase above is the best place to start: two minutes of combat, movement, weapons, abilities, characters and environments from the latest build.

v0.75 also changes how you move through a fight. Power Rush launches into steerable flight, Titanward charges on its own weapon button, and several active abilities have been rebuilt around clearer roles. Between runs, the Cairn becomes a stone circle with three paths to develop.

These notes cover the 28 October 2026 development update. Where Giants Fall remains in development.

Major highlights

  • 20 levels for every weapon: 70 new Ascension upgrades, with a Legendary finish for each of the 14 weapon tracks.
  • 18 playable heroes: a much larger roster with innate traits shown in Loadout.
  • Four new landscapes: Aurelian Vale, Larkhaven Downs, Serewind Dunes and Sunspring Sanctum.
  • Boss fights with new demands: Morvessa’s shield-orb phase, Thordir’s returning blades and dedicated realms for both bosses.
  • Two towering colossi: Giants Answer brings Trollebror and Jorl Jotnesson into the fight.
  • A new Cairn: 39 stones across Fate, Fortune and Might, including Grace revivals and three keystones.
  • Movement with more control: press-to-launch Power Rush, a three-strike Ascension trial and reworked aerial abilities.

Take every weapon to level 20

Level 15 is no longer the end of a weapon’s journey. All 14 weapons now reach level 20, adding five Ascension upgrades to each track.

The progression has three major steps: unlock your manual ultimate at level 10, strengthen it through Ultimate Mastery at levels 11–15, then push the weapon further through Ascension at levels 16–20. Every track ends with a new Legendary upgrade.

Fireball reaches Heart of the Sun. Chain Lightning builds a Storm Crown. Ancient Spirits raises Ancestral Champions, Demonlash unleashes Nine Tails of Ruin, and Titanward reaches Worldsplitter. These upgrades build on the weapon’s identity and its ultimate, giving late-run drafts more to work toward.

Several weapons have also changed from their first level:

  • Titanward is now manually activated with its weapon button. Tap for a short shield lunge or hold to charge through the fight; an impact releases a Counterwave. It starts with three charges. Unbroken March later empowers a charge that ploughs through lesser enemies before releasing its Breaker.
  • Ancient Spirits summons ancestral warriors that stand guard around you. Each strikes with a spectral burst, then kneels at its post until ready to rise again.
  • Demonlash whips overhead into the pack ahead. Its new Hellstorm ultimate delivers a barrage of lashes and finishing strikes.
  • Razor Shuriken throws forward before ricocheting through enemies. Thousand Cuts sends out a Great Razor that cuts repeatedly, sheds smaller blades and returns to your hand.
  • Plague Spitter becomes a poison shotgun. Eight pellets spread across a wide cone, with further projectiles adding pellets and later upgrades developing Poison detonations.

The rest of the arsenal receives changes to damage, attack timing, aiming and presentation. Fireballs and axes leave the hero’s hands, rockets fire from a held launcher, and directional attacks better follow uneven ground. Frostwave’s ultimate hits harder, while Machine Gun gains stronger base damage and a wider firing cone.

Choose your hero

The roster grows from five to 18 playable heroes, each with an innate trait displayed in Loadout.

Aeris, Aluna, Arne, Butch, Cipher, Darian, Liadrin, Lyra, Maverick, Natasja, Raiken, Sash and Veronica join Rambo, Gemma, Moland, Nirvana and Rinoa. Fifteen heroes are available from the start; Moland, Nirvana and Rinoa remain challenge unlocks.

Traits offer different starting advantages. Gemma receives her first Gambling Man item for free, Arne gains critical chance as he levels, and Cipher can hold Shield equal to 150% of Max HP, compared with the usual 100%.

Fresh starting choices have changed too:

  • Weapons: Demonlash, Chain Lightning, Plague Spitter, Golden Gun, Frostwave and Fireball.
  • Active abilities: Blood Pact, Dragon Breath, Void Pull, Rejuvenation, Skybreaker and Chrono Veil.

Ancient Spirits, Titanward, Ironhail Rockets and Earthspikes are now earned through challenges on a new profile. Your previously unlocked collection stays unlocked.

Explore new landscapes

Four new landscapes broaden the Journey:

  • Aurelian Vale: golden harvest fields, birch and beech groves, farmsteads, windmills and stony roads.
  • Larkhaven Downs: rolling green hills, wildflowers, oak copses and red-earth paths.
  • Serewind Dunes: rippled sand, palm groves, ancient causeways and giant bones.
  • Sunspring Sanctum: turquoise springs, oasis palms, meadows and ruined flagstone paths.

Endless now takes place in Serewind Dunes. Redstone Expanse leaves the v0.75 Journey. Morvessa and Thordir have dedicated boss realms, with broader, flatter arenas held inside a wind barrier until the boss falls.

The route remains a sequence of distinct encounters:

Regular → Ritual Siege → Morvessa → Regular → Thordir → Endless

Choose from three biome cards on each Regular and Ritual stage. Regular stages now begin more calmly before the horde builds; bomber rings and hunter packs wait until after the first 75 seconds. Mountain ranges, vegetation, roads, weather and distant scenery have also received a broad visual refresh.

Face the giants

Giants Answer now brings two colossi: Trollebror and Jorl Jotnesson. They tower above world giants, withstand far more punishment and threaten the battlefield with fire, frost and tethers. Each defeated colossus rewards an Epic or Legendary chest.

The surrounding horde has more variety too. Fel Ladies flank and retreat, Dunewardens protect their front between attacks, and Orcs become more aggressive when wounded. Enemy casters visibly gather their spells, making fireballs, frostbolts and frostwaves easier to distinguish.

During Overtime, growing violet rifts bring an additional threat: Skeletal Terrors and Skeletal Warriors can bind you with slowing, damaging tethers. Kill the caster to break the connection.

Morvessa’s shield

At half health, Morvessa protects herself with a shield linked to six orbs. Break four ground orbs by remaining inside each circle for 2.5 seconds, and reach the two airborne orbs with Power Rush.

Clear them in any order. Breaking the final orb removes her shield and makes her take triple damage for 10 seconds—a window to spend the attacks you have been saving.

Thordir and the Iron Tyrant

Thordir, formerly Phalanx, has a new appearance and more health. Darksteel Onslaught sends three volleys of blades out and back; the return journey is dangerous too.

The Iron Tyrant is tougher and has a more distinct set of attacks. Its hunting blasts wait until you land after a stun, reducing chains of unavoidable hits. Boss close-range spells and Cataclysm warnings are clearer, with larger safe spaces and a countdown for Cataclysm. Staying outside those spaces remains lethal unless you are invulnerable.

Ritual portals now have six necromancer channellers. Defeating the channellers weakens the portal; destroying it defeats its remaining ring. The Warden also walks toward the giant: bring it down before it arrives to earn the pull into Ascension.

Movement and active abilities

Power Rush is now a press-to-launch aerial burst. Press Kick + Glide from the ground or air, steer through the flight, then press again to spend another charge on a kick. You no longer need to keep holding the buttons. Dash cancels the Rush.

Trial of Ascension becomes a three-strike aerial chain. Steer into the seals and use the rebound to reach the next strike; misses allow a limited number of retries. Success grants +100% damage and +25% movement speed until the stage ends.

Follow the Lights uses faster, flatter Rush movement and more varied routes, with an 18-second timer.

Several active abilities have clearer jobs:

  • Blink: teleport, stun enemies at both ends and preserve momentum. Two starting charges become three at level 3; Blink no longer deals damage.
  • Chrono Veil: slow enemy time, leave a Past Self and release Timebreak. A killing blow shatters the veil instead of killing you; later upgrades develop its rewind.
  • Inferno Charge: charge through enemies in a blazing path and hurl them ahead into the blast. This replaces Cyclone Dash.
  • Human Catapult: launch immediately into a steerable meteor descent, with protection during flight and a crushing landing. Its base cooldown is now 13 seconds, with reduced damage.
  • Void Pull: gather and stun the horde so your weapons can finish it. Its upgrades reward attacks and kills on trapped enemies; the pull itself no longer deals damage.
  • Frost Nova: freeze enemies and apply Brittle to raise your critical chance against them. Absolute Zero ends the track with an enormous nova.
  • Flash of Light and Rejuvenation: both deal damage from their first level alongside their healing, with upgrades that develop blinding light or movement through nature pulses.

Blood Pact builds its Blood Ward from level 1, Earthspikes has a stronger slam and revised Legendary path, and Skybreaker supports holding to aim. Phase Guard’s 18-second cooldown begins when its protection ends.

Explore the full level 1–8 ability paths.

Raise the new Cairn

The Cairn becomes a stone circle with 39 stones along three paths: Fate, Fortune and Might. Stones open in sequence, rank rings show future opportunities, and the centre gathers your chosen effects in one place.

Three keystones finish the paths:

  • Loom of Fate: Forsaking an item returns a reroll token.
  • Giant’s Hoard: clearing a stage or defeating an Endless boss pays interest on the gold you carry.
  • Giantsbane: deal more damage to bosses, minibosses and giants.

Grace adds revival charges, with one Grace revival available per stage. Phoenix remains a separate revival. You can still turn Cairn Effects off without losing your raised stones.

The collection now has 42 unlock challenges and 36 separate in-game achievements. Requirements follow the current Journey: Peril goals use the danger reachable before each boss, Tempt Fate asks for all eight altars, and Ascension challenges reward direct seal hits.

Rewards, survival and readability

Starting health rises from 500 to 625 HP, with another 25 HP per hero level. Normal Shield can reach 100% of Max HP, with Cipher’s trait and Titanward’s Bastion offering their own additional protection.

Endless gains Withering from minute five. Healing and Shield gained gradually weaken, reaching a 50% reduction at minute 25.

Warpath and Giantforge rewards have been retuned. Warpath bonuses now reach +30% XP and +36% gold; Giantforge bonuses are generally smaller, and purchases, rerolls and paid wheel spins cost more. Miniboss rewards grant fixed bonuses, including Max HP, Lifesteal, attack speed or ability power.

Blood Chalice and Bloodfangs have revised healing roles. Glide and Rush items gain new effects, and world buffs use clearer names: Overpower, Haste, Vital Surge, Gold Rush and Stop Time. The Wheel of Fortune also has a new crimson-and-gold design and quicker stopping.

Menus, portraits, objective panels, health bars, reward cards and buff labels have received a readability pass. A new Leaderboards screen lets you review your best runs on this PC, including while offline; runs with Cairn Effects disabled are marked Pure runs.

Language selection now offers English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese from the main menu’s General settings; text awaiting translation remains in English.

This update also fixes cases where attacks or charge states carried incorrectly between stages, improves reward tracking, and addresses loading and combat hitches.
